The staff and Board of Trustees of Perry County District Library are happy to announce that a plan for reinstatement of modified library services has been approved and will begin soon. The plan includes details on the procedures necessary to ensure the safe return of library materials, the process adopted to quarantine and clean materials prior to lending, and guidelines for scheduling times for curbside/drive-thru pick-up, browse by appointment, and computer use at each location. In addition, all locations will soon offer WiFi from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, May 26, 2020, all Perry County District Library locations will open the outdoor book drops at 10:00 a.m. Libraries will remain closed to the public through June 7, 2020, in order to allow for materials to be returned, quarantined, and cleaned prior to offering additional services. All library materials, except those marked “do not return in book drop,” can be returned to any of the six locations throughout the county. For items marked otherwise, borrowers are asked to contact their library location to set up a time to return the items in person. During the call, the borrower will be given easy instructions for returning the item at a scheduled time. To set up a time to return mobile hotspots, adaptive toys/equipment, Launch Pads, and Playaway Views, please call your library.
Beginning June 1, 2020, all library locations will start accepting calls for appointments to use a computer, browse the collection, or request materials to be picked up during curbside/drive-thru pick-up. All services will be by appointment only. Materials for curbside/drive-thru pick-up can also be requested through the online catalog. At this time, statewide delivery has been suspended, so library materials must be picked up at the owning library. All appointments for browsing will include a 30-minute time slot and will be limited to one person. Children under the age of 10 will not be permitted to schedule an appointment at this time, but parents/caregivers are encouraged to request items for children, or to pick up extra books during their browsing appointment. The library staff will be happy to assist in this process. Computer appointments are also limited to one person. These limits are set for the safety of our visitors and staff. Limits will be strictly enforced. These scheduled services will begin Monday, June 8, 2020 at all PCDL locations. All library staff members will be wearing face masks and we strongly recommend all visitors do the same for the health, safety and respect of all. Visitors will also be required to sanitize their hands upon entering the building. Anyone feeling ill or experiencing symptoms outlined by the CDC and the state and local health departments should not come to the library. Appointments can and will be rescheduled.
Summer reading programs for all ages will begin June 1, 2020, virtually and/or remotely. More details on the fun, exciting plans PCDL has for summer will be coming your way soon!
