Getting the Materials You Want

There are a few different ways for you to receive materials through PCDL.  Of course, walking into one of your library locations and grabbing an item off the shelf is one option.  However, there are ways that PCDL staff can work to make materials available to you from libraries across Ohio and the United States.  In short, if you cannot find what you are looking for, do not give up hope.  Chances are that the material can be obtained for you.

  • Requesting Materials via SEO: As part of the SEO Consortium, PCDL shares an online catalog and collections with numerous libraries across the state.  If your library location does not have a particular item on the shelves, it is very easy to request that item using PCDL's online catalog.  All you need is a library card and a pin number (usually the last four digits of your phone number).  You can even choose at which of the seven PCDL locations that you would like to receive the item.  Library staff will contact you either by phone or e-mail to let you know when the item arrives.

  • Interlibrary Loan Requests: If a desired item is not available through SEO's catalog, you can submit an interlibrary loan request by contacting staff at any of PCDL's seven locations.  Staff will submit the request and will attempt to make available materials from libraries across the United States.  Unlike requests made through SEO, however, lending libraries can decline to send items to PCDL patrons via ILL.  Once again, you will be contacted when the item arrives or if the request cannot be filled.
